You are a dedicated and experienced Litigation/Housing Solicitor, ideally with post-admission experience in housing law and litigation at a relevant grade and level of responsibility. You should have a strong understanding of public law and possess excellent advocacy and communication skills. You are committed to continuous service improvement, equality, and diversity, and are sensitive to the political aspirations of council members.
What the job involves
This role involves providing legal advice on housing law, conducting litigation, and potentially appearing as an advocate for the Council in various legal settings. You will support the Housing Directorate in litigation cases, conduct judicial reviews, and advise Council committees as needed. You'll be responsible for preparing legal documents, managing disputes, and complaints, and assisting both senior and junior staff in legal matters. Additionally, the role includes corporate responsibilities such as promoting equal opportunities and adhering to safeguarding policies.
Skills
- Qualified Solicitor or barrister with a current practising certificate
- Experience in housing law and litigation
- Practical knowledge of public law
- Effective advocacy and communication skills
- Good drafting and IT skills
- Ability to work under pressure and deliver to tight timescales
- Full valid driving licence and ability to travel
