Who You Are
You are a qualified professional with a social work qualification and at least five years of post-qualification experience. You have a strong background in providing supervision and support in social work settings. You possess the confidence and ability to work constructively with senior managers and are skilled in chairing complex meetings. You have a thorough understanding of the legal framework and guidelines governing looked after children and care leavers. You demonstrate independence and the ability to challenge norms to uphold the performance of the Local Authority as a corporate parent. You ensure the promotion of the child's voice and have knowledge of representation and complaints procedures to define and improve high quality practice standards.
What the Job Involves
The role involves independent review and coordination of care plans for looked after children, care leavers, and children in need under supervision orders. You will work within Nottinghamshire County Council's Strategic Safeguarding and Independent Review Group. This includes responsibilities related to the local authority designated officer function, missing children, and safeguarding children from criminal and sexual exploitation. You will utilize a strength-based approach in reviews and ensure high standards of practice to improve the outcomes for looked after children. You will monitor and challenge the Local Authority’s performance as a corporate parent and communicate effectively with children, making sure their voices are heard.
