Senior Social Worker - Job Description

Who You Are

A dedicated and professional senior social worker who is committed to promoting positive change in children and families' lives. You are skilled in dealing with complex, statutory cases that require a qualified children’s social worker, particularly child protection, care proceedings, and looked-after children cases. You approach your work with a thorough understanding of legal and policy frameworks and have experience in making professional judgments that truly make a difference in the community.

What the Job Involves

  • Lead on complex statutory cases requiring qualified social work.
  • Promote and implement positive change using social work methods and tools.
  • Conduct initial and comprehensive assessments of children in need.
  • Develop and review casework plans in line with legislation and best practices.
  • Participate and lead safeguarding enquiries, supporting care and support needs.
  • Prepare court applications and represent the council when required.
  • Ensure accurate record keeping and contribute to performance monitoring.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and guidance.
  • Work collaboratively with allied professionals and agencies to protect children.
  • Address safeguarding concerns and contribute to complaint resolutions.
  • Work flexibly and participate in cross-disciplinary groups and projects.
