Role

Who You Are

You are a dedicated and qualified social work professional committed to improving the lives of children, young people, and their families. You have experience in child care settings and are knowledgeable about the principles of relevant legislation such as the Children Act 1989 and 2004. You possess strong communication skills, are empathetic, and are ready to work collaboratively with various agencies to achieve the best outcomes for children. You hold a current registration with Social Work England and have undergone successful post-qualification experience.

What the job involves

You will manage and prioritize a caseload involving Children in Need, Child Protection, and Looked After Children, working in partnership with multi-agency colleagues. Your role includes conducting assessments, formulating care plans, ensuring good outcomes for children, safeguarding responsibilities, and providing evidence in court when required. You will engage in preventive work with families, guide and support carers, and actively participate in strategic planning and review meetings. The role requires a commitment to interagency collaboration and maintaining professional standards in record-keeping and reporting, adhering to Data Protection legislation.

Skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively with children and families
  • Experience in care assessment, planning, and implementation
  • Proficient report writing and case recording skills
  • Strong advocacy and negotiation abilities
  • Competent in IT for word processing and data management
  • Ability to identify risks and apply child protection interventions
  • Experience in supervising social work students (Grade K)
